Abstract: |
In Northwest Vietnam, monoculture cultivation are practicing on sloping land, especially short-term crops such as maize and cassava, without any soil conservation practices. This often results in increasing annual soil losses and longer-term degradation with reducing crop production on-site and significant environmental impacts off-site as well as increasing investment cost. In addition, the area of farmland for majority of farmers is narrowed due to rapid growth of population. Therefore, the orientation of sustainable cultivation on sloping land follows agroforestry practice play a significant role. Agroforestry is considered the most appropriate and effective for Northwest Vietnam. |
