The Peat-IMPACTS project operates in peatland area of South Sumatra (Banyuasin and Ogan Komering Ilir/OKI) and West Kalimantan (Kubu Raya) to promote sustainable peatland management, ecological restoration, and resilient community livelihoods. The project strengthens local capacity through training, participatory planning, and multi-stakeholder collaboration, while supporting village institutions to integrate peat protection into development plans. It encourages climate-smart agriculture, alternative livelihoods, and ecosystem-based approaches to reduce fire risks and land degradation. By combining scientific evidence, policy support, and community engagement, Peat-IMPACTS contributes to healthier peat ecosystems, improved incomes, and more sustainable, climate-resilient landscapes for local communities. |
